PROJECT OVERVIEW
The intersections of Bangerter Highway and 9800 South, 13400 South and 2700 West will be constructed into traditional interchanges as part of the Bangerter South project. Utility work began in fall of 2023 with minimal traffic impacts. Roadway construction with increased traffic impacts, including the full closure of the 9800 South and 13400 South intersections, will begin in early summer 2024. Construction at each interchange is anticipated to last through November 2025.
13400 SOUTH TRAFFIC PATTERN SHIFT
Crews will shift lanes on Bangerter Highway at 13400 South as early as Saturday, Nov. 4, to work on utilities. This configuration will allow through lanes on north and southbound Bangerter Highway, but the left lane on the northbound continuous flow interchange (CFI) will be shifted to the east. The merge lane from 13400 South to southbound Bangerter Highway will be shortened during this shift. This is the first of several lane shifts planned to accommodate crews working day and night while keeping traffic moving. Drivers should use caution while in the work zones and follow the posted speed limit.
13400 SOUTH AND 2700 WEST PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE REMOVALS
As part of the Bangerter South project, crews will close all access to Bangerter Highway at 13400 South and 2700 West overnight to permanently remove the pedestrian bridges. This work will require two full overnight closures of Bangerter Highway at 13400 South on Friday, Nov. 17, and at 2700 West on Saturday, Nov. 18. Access to the pedestrian bridges will close on Wednesday, Nov. 15. Detour maps will be available prior to the road closure and posted on the website.
